Everything To Know About The Little Light By Jay Depoy
Jay
Depoy is
the author of the book this little light and is also a founding pastor of
Lakeshore church in Muskegon, Michigian, and exodus church in Asheville, North
Carolina.
Jay
is a graduate of Grand Valley State University (BA in Sociology) and Grand
Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone University (MA in Ministry
Leadership).
Jay depoy has a rough start in childhood. His father divorced his mother, and thus he moved to his aunt's house to live with.
Gods way of healing:
Jay
Depoy is a pastor who has been through many struggles, but he continues to
minister to those who are hurting. Jay's passion for ministering to people
comes from his own experiences with pain and healing. He knows that God can use
any circumstance to draw someone closer to Him.
He
shares one of his stories as follows:
A
few years ago, he was walking the streets along with Division without a GPS. He
listened to it when the Voice interrupted the constant static of sirens and
solicitations. He stopped at the corner when he saw a man.
He
started interacting with the people under a highway overpass.
Time
has a way of humbling us all. He used to think he could rescue those in danger
and liberate the captives, But was self-destructing himself. He was not sure
who he was.
But
one thing he was sure about was that he also was once a victim of addiction and
can relate well with the homeless people how they felt.
But
he has come to share the good news:
One
day, when he was writing a goodbye letter to my family and was planning to
disappear from the shame with which he was labeled, the heavens opened to
collide with the gates of hell, and he found imagining Jesus walking towards
him.
He
did not speak, except to say, "Peace be with you, Jay." He sat down
beside my ocean of shame, and He held out His hands. I could see fresh scars,
evidence of the cost of my liberation.
Until
that moment, he had learned to live with the identity given to me by men. His
identity is a self-righteous, cocky, murderous, adulterer, sex offender,
lying, thief, disqualified, banished, failure. For years he had protested and
finally accepted his fate as a degenerate.
He
asked Jesus, "And who do You say that I am?"
Jesus
looked at him with tunnel vision and saw his heart. It was beating on life
support. He unplugged the machines and rewired His veins into his own
bloodline.
He took off his outer garment and washed my dirty feet. He wiped away the tears from his eyes and slowly stood before me. He then took off His white robe of righteousness and put it around me.
"Mine."
He said.
